Exchanging documents or other files with friends or co-workers can be much easier with a Peer-to-peer (P2P) sharing applications. One of the most popular P2P clients out there is eMule, which is based on eDonkey. If you wish to enjoy its functionality on Mac OS X, then you should look for aMule, which is basically the same application, but for Macintosh. You can use it to connect to various servers or to create your own sharing network, on any OS version, from Snow Leopard to Mavericks.

The user interface is divided into several sections, in which you can manage servers and establish a connection, search for shared data, manage downloads and your shared items, exchange messages and more. All sections can be accessed via navigation buttons, on the upper part of the interface. Unlike conventional P2P clients, which operate with a central server, aMule gives you access to several networks. The software comes with its of networks and you can add new ones yourself.

Networks are displayed in a list, along with various details, like their addresses, ports, pint times or others and you only need to double click one to connect. Once you are connected, you can start searching for shared files. The software lets you sort the search results by column headers and filter them by various criteria. Active downloads are displayed in a different section, in which you can prioritize them, bring up additional information about the files or the transferring process. It is also possible to pause downloads and resume them at a later date.

aMule comes with its own chat features. You can search for friends on a network, by their IP addresses, ports, usernames or user hashes and add them to a list of contacts. The application provides a vast range of statistics as well, regarding your uploading or downloading speed, connection speed, maximum download or upload rate and much more.

Pros:
The software gives you free and unrestricted access to countless file sharing networks. It provides a flexible search function, with sorting and filtering functions. Also, aMule can supply you with a huge amount of information about your downloads, connection speed and more.

Cons:
You may have difficulties connecting to certain servers.

Thanks to aMule's smart capabilities, sharing files can be done as fast and easy as possible.
